for the loved of it (vol.11)
For the Love of It” is a series that explores Tarik’s deep passion for creation and self-expression through painting. He seeks out unusual, unpopulated locations to refine his skills and find solace from the stresses of life and the weight of past experiences. This process not only serves as a therapeutic escape but also rekindles his connection to the stories he aims to tell through his art. When his creative space feels overwhelming, these quiet spots become his sanctuary, allowing him to rediscover the joy of painting and the narratives woven into each piece.
Title: “The Flowers In my Mind”
Dimensions: 700cm (w) x 300cm (h)
Medium: spray paint, acrylic paint, house paint, acrylic markers on concrete.
Description:
This painting was the first of two I created at the Brisbane legal walls on this particular day. Despite the limited space caused by recent flooding, the spot offered a great opportunity to experiment with my techniques on a larger scale. These legal walls are perfect for me to push my creativity, especially in an environment mostly dominated by graffiti. It’s exciting to bring something unique to these spaces. Recently, flowers have been on my mind, and this piece allowed me to release those thoughts and explore what I’m trying to express through their form. I never approach these paintings with a plan, and that freedom is what makes the process so enjoyable and liberating.
